Position Purpose
This role involves delivering a variety of services designed to engage, support, and coach parents, children, and youth within the child welfare system. The primary objective is to build strong rapport with children and youth, helping them enhance their functioning in the most effective and efficient way possible. As a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), you will provide targeted interventions aimed at stabilizing children and youth during transitional periods.
We are looking for candidates with a degree in a related field, at least one year of relevant experience, and strong communication skills. Applicants must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and the ability to complete progress notes within 24 hours after each session.
Qualifications for QMHP-CS
QMHP-CS providers are eligible to deliver Mental Health Targeted Case Management (MHTCM) and mental health rehabilitative services and must meet the following criteria:
- Completion of a standardized training curriculum.
- Demonstrated competency in the tasks required.
- Possession of one of the following:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with coursework equivalent to a major in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, or early childhood intervention.
Additional Requirements
- Certification in the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) Assessment or the Adult Needs and Strengths Assessment (ANSA). Certification must be renewed annually through an approved entity.
- Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA)
Individuals holding any of the following licenses are automatically certified as QMHP-CS:
- Physician
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
Specific Responsibilities
- Weekly skills training and case management for clients.
- Development of a Crisis Plan to ensure client, family, and community safety.
- Coordination of ongoing recovery team meetings.
- Requirement to meet face-to-face with clients in various settings (home, school, office, community).
- Requirement to maintain 30 hours of billable services weekly.
- Expectation to reassess client needs (e.g., every 90 days) and modify treatment plans accordingly.
- Support in obtaining financial assistance or services under federal, state, and local regulations.
Documentation and Compliance
- Entering demographic data and maintaining detailed client records in electronic systems within 24-72 hours.
- Specific consequences for late documentation (e.g., reduced hourly rates for progress notes submitted after 72 hours).
Work Environment and Hours
- Primarily community-based position with some office work.
- Flexibility in work hours to accommodate client needs (evenings and weekends).
Additional Qualifications
- At least one year of prior experience in the behavioral health field.
- Specific technology skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google applications, etc.).
- Proof of valid Texas driver’s license, auto insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
- Cleared criminal background check, TB test, drug screen, and three professional references.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred but not required).
Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds, climb stairs, and work in stressful situations.
