McIntyre Elder Law is currently seeking a Litigation Paralegal for our Shelby, NC office. This is an IN-OFFICE position. The Litigation Paralegal reports to the Litigation Director and Lead Attorney. The Litigation paralegal is responsible for the coordination of all the details before, during and after trial. The successful candidate will be able to provide assistance to Attorneys and Management during all phases of the litigation process including legal research, drafting and filing pleadings, and calendaring hearings.
Responsibilities:
As a Litigation Paralegal with McIntyre Elder Law, your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough case law and statutory research and assisting in drafting complex pleadings.
- Draft pleadings, motions and documents and file them with the court.
- Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc.).
- Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes in physical files and electronic files.
- Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests.
- Managing client communication with professionalism and attention to detail.
- Drafting pleadings, correspondence, and notes to facilitate effective client-attorney communication.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality of client information and documents.
- Filing pleadings and ensuring proper service of legal documents.
- Collaborating with various departments within our litigation practice.
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
- Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
- Provide assistance with case settlements
Qualities We’re Seeking:
We're looking for a Litigation Paralegal who embodies the following qualities:
- A minimum of 3 years Litigation Paralegal experience required.
- Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices etc.
- Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
- Proficiency in legal case law and statutory research, drafting pleadings, and court hearing preparation.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with proficiency in billable hour tracking.
- A team player with a professional demeanor and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Well organized, effective time management, prioritize and allocate workload for optimum efficiency
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Previous experience in elder law and guardianship are preferred.
- Experience with google suite software (google docs, google sheets, google slide, and google drive) is preferred.
- Experience using a Macbook is preferred.
- Experience using Clio manage, Clio grow, and Westlaw is preferred.
