What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Nurse Practitioner position at McKay Family Practice?
Hello there! Are you a healthcare provider who's passionate about making a real impact in your patients' lives? Do you value building deep, long-term relationships with your patients? If so, we might just have the perfect opportunity for you.
We're a small medical clinic in West Jordan, and we're all about providing top-notch care to our community. We're on the lookout for a compassionate, skilled provider who's ready to become an integral part of our team.
At our clinic, you're not just another employee. You're a key part of our team, and your work directly contributes to the health and well-being of our community. We're looking for someone who's excited to grow and learn with us over the long term.
One of the things we're most proud of is the close relationships we've built with our recurring patients. We see many of the same faces every month (or every 2-3 months), which allows us to develop a real understanding and rapport with those we serve.
Why Join Us?
- Relationship-driven care: frequent follow-ups allow you to witness the change you are having on individual lives and build meaningful relationships.
- Manageable volume: we typically see 3 patients per hour, and 15-20 per day.
- Small, supportive team: decisions are made in-house with the help of our team, not by some corporate leader who you've never met.
- Clinical variety: we see a wide variety of visit types, allowing you to constantly learn and grow without the burnout of repetition.
- Flexible but consistent schedule: we'll work together to find a schedule that fits your lifestyle initially, and will keep it stable so MAs and patients know when you're in.
Responsibilities:
- Provide evidence-based primary and preventative care across the lifespan.
- Perform minor procedures, including joint injections and abscess drainage.
- Conduct routine check-ups to patients, including pap smears.
- Collaborate with fellow NPs and MAs to craft patient-centered care plans.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
- Record and update patient information and medical histories, with a focus on thorough and timely charting.
- Code visits accurately and timely after each visit.
- Conduct DOT physical exams for commercial drivers.
Our Most Common Visit Types:
- Addiction Recovery: We provide a safe, supportive environment for individuals seeking recovery.
- Mental Health: We offer care and support for mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD and related conditions.
- Weight Loss: We offer medically-assisted weight loss options, such as Phentermine and Semaglutide/Tirzepatide injections.
- Medical Cannabis: We offer consultations and care for patients using medical cannabis to treat a variety of ailments.
- Chronic Disease Management: We help patients to get a handle on hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disorders, and much more.
- Family/General Wellness: We're passionate about preventive care and promoting health and wellness for all our patients.
Working with our patient population, particularly those working towards recovery from substance abuse, can be challenging yet deeply rewarding. It requires a special blend of patience, compassion, and resilience. We’re looking for a provider who’s ready to embrace these challenges with a compassionate and understanding approach, making a real difference in our community.
Qualifications:
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Minimum of 1 year working as a Nurse Practitioner.
- DEA license
- CPR certification
- Current malpractice insurance coverage.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- A strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information.
- Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
- Experience with joint injections, pap smears, and other minor procedures.
- Experience in addiction recovery and psychiatry is a plus, but is not required.
- Experience with medically-assisted weight loss and diet/exercise is a plus, but not required.
- Fluency in Spanish would be a great addition to our team, but is not required.
SCHEDULE:

Initially, we're looking for a part-time provider for 3-4 days per week, but we're open to expanding hours for the right fit. This is an excellent opportunity if you're seeking a flexible role now with the potential for increased hours down the line.
Our clinic currently operates Monday to Friday, with our core hours being from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (the last patient is at 4:40, so the end time varies slightly). On Wednesdays, we're open from 11 AM to 4 PM. But here's the thing - we're open to change. Need to start later or finish earlier? Let's chat about it. We're committed to creating a work environment that fits your lifestyle as much as possible, while still meeting the needs of our patients.
