What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor for School of Education/Division of Humanities (Non-Tenure Track) position at McKendree University?
McKendree University, located in Lebanon, IL, invites applicants for the position of non-tenure track Instructor for the School of Education. This is an on-campus, full-time position and is eligible for a competitive compensation and benefits package.
The instructor will report to the School of Education and will teach both foundational and methods education courses as well as English Composition courses in the Division of Humanities, English Department. As an instructor, you will play a vital role in engaging freshman and sophomore students as well as preparing future educators. The candidate must have experience teaching college-level English Composition or other relevant experience The ideal candidate will bring a passion for teaching, a deep understanding of educational methodologies, and a strong background as a K-12 teacher.
Responsibilities :
- Design and deliver engaging curriculum for methodology courses in various subject areas.
- Facilitate meaningful classroom discussions, group activities, and hands-on teaching experiences to develop students' pedagogical skills.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and effective teaching strategies.
- Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and mentorship to aspiring educators to enhance their teaching skills.
- Stay current with best practices in K-12 education and adapt instructional methods accordingly.
- Supervise students in the field during student teaching.
- In collaboration with English faculty, implement university-level composition goals and best practices.
- Design engaging university-level composition assignments that foster process writing, critical thinking, and information literacy.

Salary Range : $40,260.00 - $50,000.00 / Annually
Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions and department budget.
