What are the responsibilities and job description for the QC Stability Coordinator position at McKenna Labs?
The QC Stability Coordinator is primarily responsible for quality control tasks associated with evaluating stability and compatibility testing of personal care and OTC products along with Annual Product Review (APR).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform analysis of stability data for personal care/OTC products to test color, odor, appearance, pH, package compatibility, specific gravity, and viscosity, etc. per specified test methods and specifications provided.
- Maintain Stability Studies Log and test based on established schedule.
- Perform Glass Jar (samples provided by R&D) and Packaging Compatibility Testing (samples pulled from Pilots and 1st Fills) on ALL new OTC formulas as well as additional testing as required.
- Maintain the Annual Product Review Program.
- Review documentation and processes for accuracy and compliance with specifications and procedures.
- Use customer provided specifications (where available) to ensure documents provided by R&D are correct.
- Address and escalate OOS (Out of Specifications) in a timely manner.
- Generate Stability Alerts as needed.
- Pull samples for Packaging Stability and Annual Product Review.
- Perform weekly checks (or as needed on a more frequent basis) on Raw Material Fridge. Stability Chambers, and QC Fridge to ensure temperature is within spec.
- Detect nonconforming conditions during stability testing process and accurately document each condition with detail.
- Support internal and external customers by responding to quality inquires and requests.
- Communicate relevant information appropriately and timely.
- Assist QC Chemist in sending out samples to outside lab for analytical testing.
- Maintain a positive and productive relationship with external and internal customers, co-workers, and others with whom the position may have contact.
- Exercise Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) compliance in the work environment.
- Work cross-functionally to complete investigations or testing needs associated with stability testing or product failure.
Requirements

- High School degree or equivalent required. Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field is a strong differentiator.
- Minimum of one (1) year related experience in a quality control position in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the areas of cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical manufacturing or packaging.
- Must have basic mathematical skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, dimensions, weights, convert English/Metric units, and apply concepts to practical situations.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must have ability to carry out instruction provided in written or verbal form.
- Must be a team player and be able to work independently with the ability to be self-sufficient by defining tasks for successful completion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak in English.
- Ability to collaborate, communicate, and negotiate with others in an effective and professional manner.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The pay range for this role is $18.00 – $28.00 per hour. Compensation is commensurate with level of knowledge, education, skills, and experience applicable to the position.
