Description
This position oversees road crew on excavation projects and road maintenance/repair. Train heavy equipment operators as needed; operate heavy equipment as needed (working foreman). Monitor jobsite safety and provide workplace safety training. This class reports to the Road Superintendent. The schedule is Monday – Friday. Level and salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions
- Planning, staging, monitoring, and inspection of projects from blueprint to finished project
- Identify deficiencies in engineered plan, perform value engineering as needed to litigate weaknesses
- Evaluate hydrology and determine BMP’s according to industry standards, devise plan, calculate material needs, implement plan through installation of devices
- Determine material quantities from plan of field measurements, submit procurement requests, receive/stage and properly store materials for use
- Install proper signage, barriers, cones, etc. Establish detours, bypasses, and load pass notifications as needed to ensure safe work zone
- Regularly walk jobsites, evaluate conditions, completing inspection forms and maintaining project inspection records
- Daily management of employees time, assigning operators to machines, assigning daily tasks, monitoring of progress, resolve employee conflict
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D)
- Up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school
