McKenzie Electric Cooperative (MEC) is currently seeking qualified candidates for Operations Coordinator. The selected candidate for this full-time, benefited position will be responsible for providing administrative/clerical support to the Operations Department and line crew including assisting in the coordination of projects across multiple departments and regular correspondence with members, vendors, and contractors.


Reporting to and receiving assignments from the Line Manager, this role will provide services in a timely, accurate and high quality manner, while fostering positive working relationships within the office. The selected candidate will support the mission of MEC and make our members first priority.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides general administration support, including filing, copying, image scanning and file management of related
  • As directed, accumulates and processes data through appropriate reporting methods in a timely manner, including work order activity, outage incidents and restoration information, maintenance records and other Operation
  • Analyze system information to coordinate required work, establish reporting to facilitate work coordination, assist Operations leadership with work scheduling. Monitor performance and assist with addressing identified issues.
  • Responds to requests for underground cable locations, contacts North Dakota One-Call for MEC locates and for updating the One-Call database and coordinates joint trench
  • Coordinates deliveries with the warehouse personnel and/or
  • Communicates with necessary staff when jobs will be worked and when needed, calls
  • Processes service orders for all of operations and completes and/or routes to appropriate personnel as
  • Assists with the coordination of annual/routine activities and reporting.
  • Charges out material ticket jobs for
  • Organizes and updates member information, work orders and service order information in customer information
  • Responds to member, developer, contractor, MEC staff, or electrician questions concerning service installations/inquiries, schedule appointments, receive and process inspections and update computer records as
  • As needed, provides general administration and coordination support of projects between Engineering Services, Operations and Accounting
  • Transmits and receives information over the company radio system with other employees in the
  • Attends and participates in training programs for improvement of job knowledge, skill and safety.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving
  • Develops workable implementation plans; communicates changes effectively; prepares and supports those affected by change; monitors transition and evaluates
  • Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials
  • Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrates accuracy and
  • Maintains and promotes a positive, professional
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Line Manager.

Education/Experience: Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or tech school preferred; one to two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications/Licenses: A valid Class D driver's license is required.

Knowledge: Basic understanding of how PC based Window's software operates. Basic spreadsheet and word processing skills.
