Occupational Therapist (Pediatric)
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Pediatric Occupational Therapist works with children and adolescents to assess and treat developmental, physical, or cognitive challenges that affect their ability to perform everyday tasks, like dressing, eating, writing, social interaction or playing, by providing therapy sessions focused on improving emotional regulation skills, fine motor skills, sensory integration, cognitive abilities, and self-care skills, aiming to enhance their independence and participation in daily life activities often collaborating with parents and educators to implement strategies across different environments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Evaluating a child's physical, cognitive, and sensory abilities through standardized tests and clinical observations to identify areas needing therapy.
- Implementing treatment plans through one-on-one sessions, addressing challenges like hand-eye coordination, grasp, manipulation, posture, and self-regulation.
- Teaching parents and teachers strategies to support the child's progress at home and community.
- Maintains patient occupational therapy records by recording client’s progress for use by the occupational therapist.
- Generates revenue by recording billing information of services rendered.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Serves and protects occupational therapy practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Enhances occupational therapy practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Adapt to the variety of settings and situations that occur in a rural healthcare setting
- Collaborating with team members to coordinate care and maximize the child's development.

Qualifications
Physical Requirements:
- Physically demanding, high-stress environment
- Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
- Pushing and pulling heavy objects
- Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
- Manual and finger dexterity
- Hand and eye coordination
- Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
- Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages are preferred.
- Proficient computing skills, specifically healthcare related billing platforms, and MS Office Products.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Ability to travel between outlying clinics (Williston, ND) and hospital.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Education/Experience:
- Master’s degree in occupational therapy
- 1 year experience in pediatric occupational therapy preferred. New grads accepted.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Pass the NBCOT (National Board Exam)
- Occupational Therapy Licensure for the state of North Dakota
- Current BCLS certification
