PRN RN-Clinic/LTC
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse will demonstrate proficiency in administering the fundamentals of the nursing process, contribute to nursing assessment and the development of a nursing care plan, and participate in the evaluation of nursing care. To qualify for the PRN RN you must live at least 60 miles from the location you are applying for.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises care given by nonprofessional staff and provides instruction as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supports nursing care standards through adherence to existing policies and procedures.
- Regularly attends unit conferences and makes recommendations for improvement in patient care via the patient care conference and unit conference.
- Participates in peer review as appropriate.
- Obtains and documents nursing history from patients and/or significant others that is comprehensive of present condition and prior problems. Performs basic assessment of patients, indicating adequate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Records vital signs, notes changes, and pursues more-specific investigations as needed. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and shows a fundamental understanding of its implications by reporting information to the physician and others caring for the patient, and by incorporating information in the nursing care plan.
- Uses assessment information to develop a care plan before the end of duty time that communicates enough information for incoming staff to adequately care for the patient. Reviews and develops care plans for assigned patients. Includes the patient and his or her family in planning care, establishing priorities, and setting goals.
- Uses care plans as a basis for providing safe and therapeutic care to patients. Communicates with the patient and his or her family and other members of the health care team in carrying out the goals of the care plan. Accepts accountability for clinical care of assigned patients including supervision of nonprofessional personnel.
- Evaluates and notes the patient's response to nursing care defined in the nursing care plan and medical records.
- Assumes responsibility for professional growth by current reading and attendance at educational programs and unit conferences.
- Department specific duties and responsibilities to be assigned upon hire.

Qualifications
Available to adhere to the following the guidelines for the hired level:
Level I PRN RN:
- Staff are hired as PRN RN.
- Staff will be hired at the flat rate established in Human Resources and reviewed annually.
- Staff in this role are not eligible for annual pay rate increases.
- Will be scheduled into the Clinical Schedule by the Supervisor or via Paycom Scheduling.
- Two shifts per four (4) week schedule.
Level II PRN-24 RN requires a commitment of:
- 3 shifts per week for a (2) week schedule

- One of the three shifts must be weekend shifts.
- Shifts will be assigned according to the needs of the unit. Schedules will reside in Paycom Scheduling.
- Commitment to two holidays, one major and one minor, within a six-month rolling calendar.
- Candidates must have a minimum of one (1) year recent hospital, long term care, clinic experience for the facility or department they are expected to be assigned.

Level III PRN-40 RN requires a commitment of:
- Level III will be entered into for a designated time frame only in 13-week increments.
- Shifts will be assigned according to the needs of the unit. Staff will be scheduled 40 hours/week, to include possibly every other weekend as defined by the department. Schedules will reside in Paycom Scheduling
- Commitment to two holidays, one major and one minor holiday per agreement as assigned by the needs of the unit.
- Respond positively to a minimum of two unscheduled requests for coverage per four-week schedule if needed.
- Staff eligible for this level of registry must possess all the necessary skills and certifications/credentials necessary to function in the unit designated.
- Level III /PRN nurses must meet unit or hospital on call requirements if applicable.
- Candidates for this program must have a minimum of 2 years recent hospital, long term care, clinic experience for the facility or department they are expected to be assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Current license to practice nursing in the state.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience as a professional nurse.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
