Job Summary:
Certified Coder required. Two years recent coding experience in a healthcare setting, clinic setting preferred. Chart auditing experience preferred. Working knowledge of basic medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes. Preferred experience in multiple specialties including: Cardiology, Cardiology diagnostic testing, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Critical Care, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Vascular Surgery and Vascular Imaging services. Ability to assign codes to diagnoses, procedures, E&M visits, and diagnostic testing. Ability to research and analyze clinical documentation as well as produce reports from a variety of sources. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to perform chart audits, perform provider education, and build positive working relationships.
Educational/Licensing:
Associates or Bachelors degree desired. Certified Coder required. Preferred coding experience in multiple specialties including: Cardiology, Cardiology diagnostic testing, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Critical Care, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Vascular Surgery and Vascular Imaging services.
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of basic medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes. Ability to accurately code for a multispecialty practice including: Cardiology, Cardiology diagnostic testing, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Critical Care, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Vascular Surgery and Vascular Imaging services. Minimum of 2 years recent experience in a healthcare setting, clinic setting preferred. Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word. Previous chart auditing, coding and/or billing experience required. Ability to assign codes to diagnoses, procedures, E&M visits, and diagnostic testing. Research and analyze clinical documentation as well as produce reports from a variety of sources. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to research and analyze data as well as produce reports from a variety of sources. Ability to accurately complete assignments in a timely manner. Ability to effectively prioritize work, make sound decisions, and meet deadlines. Ability to respond quickly to department, facility and corporate requests for data. Ability to work effectively both as a team leader and a team member. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of customers. Understanding of insurance types and appropriate selection processes necessary. Understanding of insurance contracting preferred. Ability to read billing statements, interpret payments and EOB's necessary. Responsible for working all hold or manager hold bucket claims as assigned from leadership. Stay informed and up-to-date on medical coding changes. Ability to perform chart audits, perform provider education, and build positive working relationships.
