Job Summary:
- Performs billing functions for all medications and pharmacy supplies provided to patients.
- Bills hospital departments for requisitioned supplies.
- Places drug orders to wholesalers and manufacturers.
- Checks in drug merchandise and processes invoices.
- Orders supplies from the hospitals purchasing department.
- Restocks nursing unit floor stock carts and cassettes.
- Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, fills unit does medication cassettes and prepares IV medications for patients.
- Performs clerical duties as required.
- Delivers medication cassettes and IVs to nursing units.
- Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, prepares and labels unit dose containers from bulk supplies when required.
- Answers the phone and takes phone messages for the pharmacist when necessary.
- Keeps pricing of supplies up to date.
- Maintains adequate inventory of IV medication batches and all other medications and supplies.
- Assists in conducting annual inventory when required.
- Files controlled drug records and other essential documents.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, some college education preferred.
- Oregon State Certification required.
- Minimum of six months hospital or retail technician experience preferred.
- Completion of a technician certification program desired.
- Must be able to stand for significant periods of time.
- Must be able to perform moderate lifting functions and push somewhat heavy carts over carpeted surfaces.
- Must possess knowledge of good sterile technique.
