Human Resource Generalist
Salary Range - $53,560 - 83,200 per year
Shift: Days, Monday-Friday
Hours: 40/week - Our medical center serves our community 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Extra hours or off-shift flexibility may be required occasionally in order to serve our employees' diverse schedules.

Job Summary:
As Human Resources Generalist you will perform various human resources duties such as employee relations support, policy, program and procedure interpretation and guidance, education on employee benefits, administration and coordination of leave management and compensation management. You will facilitate and communicate programs that increase employee engagement and support the organization's goals. Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Assist with Employee Relations issues and Conduct Internal Investigationsin conjunction with HR Director/Labor Relations Director
- Manage the Leave of Absence Process for employees to include FMLA, OFLA, and PLO
- Maintains evaluation tracker on all employees; processes all probationary period evaluations, orientation guidelines, and annual evaluations
- Process Workers’ Compensation claims and follow-ups, OSHA logs, and related documents
- Review ADA Accommodation requests
- Support employee recognition and engagement activities
- Assist with benefits administration and communication activities to include retirement plan
- Acts as liaison between employees and insurance companies regarding claims and coverage questions
- Conducts local Open Enrollment activities
- Processes Step Increases, changes to differentials, and other salary administration activities and ensures communication between managers/employees
- Prepares wage scales and uploads for increases in compliance with union contracts and medical center compensation practices
- Ensures that compensation practices are equitable and compliant with various union labor contracts and unrepresented/non-union staff policies and procedures
- Complete EFM filing for items related to job duties
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth Knowledge of Employment Laws: Comprehensive understanding of Federal, State (including Oregon-specific laws such as OFLA), and local employment laws and regulations.
- Unionized Environment Experience: Proven ability to navigate and manage HR functions within a unionized setting, including interpreting and applying union contracts.
- Effective Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information and foster collaborative relationships.
- Organizational Skills: Outstanding organizational and time management abilities, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess situations, identify problems, and develop effective solutions.
- Confidentiality and Integrity: High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
- Adaptability and Flexibility: Experience in managing change and adapting to evolving organizational needs and priorities.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in HRIS systems, with a preference for experience with UltiPro/UKG, and strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience, Education, and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with major or emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field. The equivalent in work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- 3 years Human Resources Generalist experience required
- Demonstrated experience in employee relations (preferably in a union setting), compensation administration, and leave management coordination
- SHRM or HRCI certification preferred but not required
- Healthcare experience is preferred but not required
