Senior Director, Internal and Executive Communications
The Role
We're looking for a driven, enthusiastic leader with strong experience in internal and executive communications to join our Corporate Affairs team. The Senior Director, Internal and Executive Communications is a critical role within the Corporate Affairs function, responsible for leading the company's internal and executive communications strategy for several of our Corporate Functions.
The role reports directly to the Vice President, Internal and Executive Communications and is a part of the Corporate Communications function. The Corporate Communications function is a part of the Corporate Affairs organization, which includes Corporate Brand and Marketing, Event Planning, Public Policy and US Government Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and deploy internal communications strategies, campaigns and resources to introduce signature enterprise resources, share business developments, and advance McKesson's strategic agenda.
- Develop and deliver tailored executive communication strategies for McKesson's leadership in support of enterprise priorities.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing strategic counsel on communication matters and supporting change management initiatives.
- Elevate McKesson's public presence by supporting executive engagement in targeted media interviews and industry events to educate and influence key stakeholders.
- Lead a team of communication professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities to ensure high performance and engagement.
- Harness the power of digital enablement, including artificial intelligence and project management tools, to improve efficiency and the quality of the work the team delivers.
- Define and fulfill executive communications service level agreements that are anchored in key business priorities and needs and can flex to address surges.
- Lead the creation and distribution of content across various channels, including speeches, presentations, interviews, newsletters, intranet articles, town halls, and digital platforms.
- Collaborate closely with functions such as Human Resources, Global Community Impact, Brand & Marketing, Public Affairs, Legal and the communications leaders within McKesson business units to shape and optimize plans and execution.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
A minimum of 13 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in internal and executive communications, preferably within the healthcare industry.

- A strong collaborator with a proven track-record of building bridges and trust with business leaders and partners.

- Strong strategic thinking and planning capabilities, with a proven ability to develop and execute complex communication plans.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills with a focus on developing talent and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated excellence in employee communications, media relations and executive communications.
- Proficient in creatively leveraging social and digital communication platforms and tools to enhance engagement for both executive and employee messaging.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and metrics to inform decision-making.
- High level of emotional intelligence and adaptability, with the ability to navigate and manage change effectively.
- Demonstrated experience working in a highly matrixed environment with an ability to build strong partnerships, influence and align across the organization.
Education
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field required. Master's degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
