The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are adding an Associate Chief Facility Engineer to our growing Facility Maintenance division in Spokane, WA. This role works in in direct collaboration with the Facility Program Manager or Chief Engineer to lead, coordinate, and participate in the maintenance and operation of critical facilities and central plants. You will ensure critical Service Level Agreements are met and serve as Chief Engineer and provide coverage for the Senior Facility Engineer in their absence. Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include:
- Ensuring all commercial building systems, including complex electrical distribution, HVAC, and controls, operate correctly according to specifications, regulations (Federal, State, Local), and safety standards.
- Ensures uptime of critical utilities and building systems with ≥ 99% availability, requiring troubleshooting and maintenance skills across various technical domains.
- Works with Asset Management to maximize asset life and efficiency, while minimizing operating costs, and to inform asset lifecycle decisions.
- Works with Facility Program Manager, Chief Engineer, Asset Manager and others to ensure facility goals are met.
- Leads, coordinates and participates in the maintenance and operation of commercial facilities and/or central plants, to include coordination of vendors.
- Assigns tasks and inspects completed work by employees and vendors to ensure compliance with industry standards, including safety.
- Monitors and inspects physical condition of facility and assets and makes recommendations for repairs and improvements to the Facility Program Manager.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
- Strong customer service orientation
- Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and problem-solve
- H.S. Diploma or GED required
- AAS Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience required
- Strong electrical background and understanding of commercial electrical systems
- EPA 608 Universal certificate required
- 5-8 years related commercial facilities experience
- 2-4 years supervision of staff preferred
- Competency with Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS systems

The pay range for this position is $75,870 - $116,010 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
