What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grind Room - 1st Shift Line 1 position at McLane Classic Foods?

McLane Classic Foods is a premier custom kettle cooked food products company based in Burleson, Texas. Specializing in custom product development, we produce a wide range of kettle cooked recipes for our regional and national chain restaurant partners. Our capabilities include an array of kettle cooked food products including soups, sauces, side dishes and dips.
Schedule:
- 6:30am - 3:00pm
- Monday - Saturday (Sundays as needed) - Mandatory / No Exceptions
Role and Responsibilities:
Employees will be responsible for inspecting and weighing all raw materials for each batch.
- Assemble/Disassemble grinding equipment needed for ingredient preparation (course grinder, final grinder, butter cutter, roto claw, etc.).
- Set up and calibrate scales.
- Inspect Ingredients for cleanliness, accuracy, integrity, allergens, and ingredient label.
- Pull raw materials and verify item codes, lot numbers, quantities, temperatures, and dates.
- Properly weigh and prepare ingredients according to SOP and batch sheets.
- Label v-mags and barrels with ingredients, weight, and batch information.
- Complete batch sheets (meat sheets) with weights, ingredients, lot information and temperatures.
- Provide direction and support to Grind Room team members.
- Ensure sanitary and safety conditions are maintained and grind room employees comply with GMPs and Safety policies.
- Additional responsibilities as instructed by Production Line Lead or Production Supervisor.
- Keep the grinding area clean and free from debris.
- Adhere to plant GMP’s and safety guidelines
Skills and Requirements:
- HS Diploma or Equivalent.
- Be able to stand, bend and lift for extended periods of time.
- Be able to lift 50-70 lbs.; scoop and shovel ingredients; lift boxes from ground level to height of approximately 4 feet.
- Be able to work in cold (40°F-50°F), wet environment for 8-10 hour shifts.
- Basic literacy (English) and math skills (use of calculator)
- Operate pallet jack training required.
- Allergen training required.
- Chemical training is required if handling sanitation chemicals.
Additional Notes:
- May be required to assist in kitchen and/or spice room to prepare ingredients as needed.
