Assists nurses with direct and indirect patient care activities. Prepares patients rooms for occupancy after discharge. Additional responsibilities includes blood draws and EKG's.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Observes patient's mental, emotional and physical conditions and report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Performs non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions as directed by nursing staff.
- May perform special procedures as required and directed (i.e., blood draws/EKGs).
- Conducts regular patient rounds and meets with patient’s family members when required.
- Collects test specimens and performs laboratory analysis as directed by nursing staff.
- Answers patient calls and determines how best to help them.
- Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.

Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant Certification Program or equivalent
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification
Position Subsidiary Specific Section- Bay Region
Applicants who have not graduated from high school may be hired for casual positions provided they are part of a work-based learning program with the organization and have completed the program as outlined in the affiliation agreement. High school diploma will be verified upon completion.
Preferred:
- Minimum of six (6) months recent experience as a Nurse Assistant in an acute care setting preferred.
- Completion of phlebotomy course or equivalent experience preferred.
