What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiovascular Technician Intern position at McLaren Flint?
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Manager, participates in the completion of cardiac catheterization procedures. Intern is assigned to work in a procedure room with other qualified employees, these are either registered nurses or cardiovascular techs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Selects appropriate equipment and supplies for each physician and type of procedure, observing sterile technique.
- Scrubs and assists physician with diagnostic and interventional procedures.This will be monitored by the preceptor / assigned employees.Once able the intern may participate independently.
- Operates, calibrates, and troubleshoots all equipment in the Cardiac Cath, EP, & Vascular Labs
- Recognizes, notifies Physician, & responds to life threatening emergencies including but not limited to hypotensive crisis, vasovagal reactions, cardiac arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, stroke, and shock.
- Demonstrates proper use of defibrillator, CPR, cardiac and respiratory arrest procedures.
