EssentialFunctionsandResponsibilities as Assigned:
- AssistsintheimplementationofMHCQIPSPtoproducemeasurableimprovementsin safety culture.
- Reviews reported safety concerns to identify trends and opportunities for aggregate analysis.Offersrecommendationstodyadleaderandtheappropriateexecutiveandsafety committees, as directed.
- Coordinatespatientsafetyimprovementactivitiestopromoteeventreportingand learning from system defects to reduce the risk of harm.
- Implementspolicies,procedures,andprotocolsastheyrelatetopatientsafetyandclinical risk activities.
- Promotespatientsafetyactivitiesforstaff,leadersandphysicians,utilizingsafetyculture principles and safety reporting data.
- Develops,manages,andpresentseducationprogramstonewandcurrentstaffandleaders addressing subsidiary safety concerns and strengthening safety reporting.
- Reviewsandmanages reportedsafetyeventfilesinatimely manner.
- Investigates,developsandfacilitatesrootcauseanalysisprocess.Componentsofcausal analysis include assessing for contributing factors related to staffing, healthcare equity/disparities, and/or system weaknesses.
- Providesconsultationregardingcrisissituations,asrequested.Actsasaresourcefor physicians needing to disclose unanticipated outcomes with patients and/or family.
- Collaborateswithclinicalleadershiptodevelopstrategiestominimizeharm events.
- InabsenceofasubsidiaryPatientSafety&ClinicalRiskdirectoror manager:
- ServesasasubsidiaryPatientSafetyOfficertomonitorthatclinicalservicesare provided in accordance with safety standards established by federal, state and regulatory agencies
- Participatesandpresentsatmeetingsandcommitteesthatalignwiththe subsidiary’s patient safety program
- Representsdepartmentatcommittees,asrequested,whilemaintainingintegrityof the information in a confidential, peer protected manner.
- Performsotherdutiesas assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Twoyearsofhealthcare experience.
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), Certified Professional in Healthcare RiskManagement(CPHRM),CertifiedProfessionalinHealthcareQuality(CPHQ)or other patient safety training/certification. If not currently holding certification, must obtain within 2 years (full-time) or 3 years (part-time) from date of hire.
- Bachelor’sdegreeinclinical orhealthcare focus.
- Threeyearsofhealthcareexperience,specifictopatientsafetyand/orhealthcarerisk management.
