We have an exciting opportunity for a Space Environment Engineer to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX .
If selected you will :
- Provide support as a space environments engineer for multiple NASA programs including Gateway and Axiom Station.
- Provide systems engineering support with space environments requirements and verification activities, working in concert with NASA civil servants and designated contractors
- Evaluate induced environmental hazards between space station elements and visiting vehicles
- Conduct systems engineering trade studies in the form of modeling / analysis activities to identify potential contamination risks and mitigations strategies
- Develop and update semi-empirical and theoretical models
- Analyze / model molecular contamination and transport of contaminants from contamination sources (such as materials outgassing, vacuum venting, and chemical thruster plumes) onto external surfaces
- Analyze / model plasma effects and spacecraft charging
- Analyze / model radiation transport and effects to materials
- Assess compatibility of spacecraft hardware with natural and induced space environment - Perform other duties as required
