What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at McLean Animal Hospital?
Our McLean Animal Hospital team has openings for full time morning and evening Veterinary Assistants. The shift hours are Monday-Friday 7am-3pm or 12-8pm. Each shift will have one set day off during the week and work every other weekend on a set schedule for morning or evening shifts. Weekend schedule is: Saturday 7/8am - 3/4pm and Sunday 7am - 1pm and a once monthly return from 5pm - 6pm.
Mclean Animal Hospital is a state of the art, AAHA certified, small animal practice with eight doctors. We value and practice high quality patient care and client education. Our hours of operation are Monday- Friday 7am to 8pm, Saturday 8am - 4pm - Sunday 8am - 1pm. We offer competitive pay with experience that typically starts at $13-15/hour, pay is negotiable with experience.
MAH is a steady, fast paced general practice. Our hospital team consists of Veterinary Assistants, Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Customer Service Representatives, Kennel Staff (for boarding) and of course the Veterinarians.
The Assistants have a lot of opportunity for growth here. A typical day for the Assistants includes (but not limited too) patient care of all of our patients in treatment including: surgery and ICU patients, boarding nursing care patients, assisting the Veterinarians with their appointments and general up-keep of the treatment floor and running routine technician visits. We are structured to do on the job training and always work very closely as a team.
It is important to us that our team is happy and works well together. We are interested in qualified candidates that are reliable, hardworking, and a great team player with stellar communication skills. Must be comfortable working with canines and felines and not afraid to jump in and lend a hand to team members when needed.
One year experience is a plus but we will consider training persons who are interested in getting into the pet health care field.
