Job purpose
The Kid’s Quest Elementary Coordinator is responsible for aiding in the successful operation of MBC Tyson’s elementary ministry. This includes : preparing all elementary resources and spaces for programming, helping develop elementary curriculum, providing a safe and welcoming environment in all elementary areas, aiding in the recruitment and discipleship of elementary volunteers, and assisting in both virtual and in-person elementary programming. In support of McLean Bible Church’s Mission, the Elementary Coordinator will help shepherd elementary aged children to embrace Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. In addition to helping our children the Elementary Coordinator will encourage and support parents in discipling their children to be followers of Christ.
Duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions)
The following items describe some of the ways this individual will accomplish this task :
- Model the character of Christ to all employees, volunteers, leaders, and congregants
- Be committed to daily prayer, Bible reading and sharing the Gospel regularly
- Demonstrate a care / grow / disciple approach to all their volunteers
- Assist in Sunday elementary programming and manage mid-week elementary ministry duties
- Mid-week responsibilities include :
Communicating with volunteers
Maintain volunteer schedule in PCOAssure proper assignment of elementary children in Ministry PlatformAssure proper assignment of volunteers in Ministry PlatformHelp recruit and interview volunteers for the Elementary team for all services (Team Leaders & Teachers)Set up classrooms, prepare curriculum bins, and maintain organization of volunteer spaces.Attend weekly Kid’s Quest team meetingsAttend All Staff meetingsSunday responsibilities include :Assist in lower elementary classrooms during Sunday AM operations.
Step in to fill in various elementary roles as needed (teaching, tech, worship)Help maintain a safe and clean learning environment in respected areasCoordinate set-up / close down / clean-up of respected areaEnsure all small group curriculum, classrooms, and supplies are available for volunteersHelp build relationship with parents and childrenAssist with special Kid’s Quest events throughout the yearAttend additional Kid’s Quest team meetingsOther duties as assigned by the Director of KQ-Tysons.Qualifications
Active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude, behavior, Scripture knowledge and understandingA passion for children’s ministry and to see families grow in their faith togetherPrevious experience within Children’s Ministries or Family Ministries preferredExperience in recruiting, motivating, equipping, and developing volunteer leaders to minister to children and families is preferredStrong communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) with all parties involvedCompetency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, Power Point etc.), database experience and the willingness to learn new software systems (Ministry Platform, Planning Center, eSpace, others)Great organizational skills, people skills, problem solving skills, conflict management skills, creativityReliable, team player, professional in all areas of conduct, teachable, organized, flexible, patientApprove background checksPassion for serving the churchWorking conditions
The Elementary Coordinator position typically in-person throughout the week (including Sundays) but may be required to work some nights and Saturdays for special projects.This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.This position requires up to 0% local travel.Physical requirements
Must be able to read, speak, and hear. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. While performing the duties of this job, the KQ Elementary Coordinator is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, bend, kneel, and lift. The KQ Elementary Coordinator is required to be able to lift and carry items that can weigh 25 pounds or more for short distances.
