The McLean Bible Church Access Ministry program is seeking a servant leader and disciple-maker with a specific passion for families affected by disability, and who also has a passion for organization. This job will focus on developing volunteer leaders and caring for families, children, teens and adults with special needs as well as managing details for Access Ministry.
The Children’s Coordinator role oversees the operations of Sunday Beautiful Blessings and Buddy Program programming at their MBC Location as well as Respite events. Serves as a resource to church leaders as an inclusionary specialist in children, teens and adult ministries whenever assistance is needed with adapting or modifying programs. Manages intake of incoming participants for Access Ministry. The position will require working with Kids Quest children’s ministry team and The Rock student ministry team.
The Operations Coordinator role works on the details and the framework of the ministry to ensure staff, families and volunteers are well cared for. This includes assisting in details for all ministry events as needed. Position will create registrations for events through Ministry Platform (MBC tool) and make all room and resource reservations across ministries and events through Espace (MBC tool). The Operations Coordinator will be responsible to complete all expense reports through Concur (MBC tool) and help maintain the budget of the ministry. They will also assist with ordering supplies and materials needed and in organization of yearly events and schedules. In addition, the Operations Coordinator will help keep Access Ministry eNews up to date with all Access-related events and promotions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Children’s Coordinator:
- Oversee development, outreach, and growth of Beautiful Blessings, Buddy Program, and Respite events
- Manage Access Beautiful Blessings classroom space
- Conduct intake meetings with incoming families
- Coordinate volunteer’s involvement in the ministry
- Care for and disciple lead volunteers, equipping them for the ministry
- Care for and disciple families in Access intentionally
- All other duties as assigned
Operations Coordinator:
- Expense management via Concur system
- Registrations for Respite and other Access events
- Attend staff meetings
- Promotion: Manage the Access Ministry eNews
- Event operations: Night to Shine, VBS, Family Retreat
- Espace room reservations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with individuals in the special needs community (preferred)
- Strong understanding of the developmental needs of individuals with special needs (e.g., cognitive, emotional, behavioral, physical).
- Ability to customize teaching approaches, materials, and environments to meet individual needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting individuals with special needs in their developmental journey
- Experience in recruiting, motivating, equipping, and developing volunteers preferred
- Competency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, Power Point etc.), willingness to learn new software systems (Ministry Platform, Planning Center, others)
- Great organizational skills, people skills, including flexibility and patience
- Great communication, problem solving and conflict management skills
- Reliable, team player, teachable, and professional in all areas of conduct
- Has demonstrated life and conduct consistent with MBC’s vision, values and teachings
- First Aid and CPR certified preferred
- Have a servant’s heart towards caregivers and program participants
- Knowledge of the Bible and ability to share the Christian faith
- Passion for serving the church.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to read, speak, and hear. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, bend, kneel, and lift. The individual is required to be able to lift and carry items that can weigh 25 pounds or more for short distances.
