Job purpose :
The Young Adult Ministry Coordinator participates in the development of MBC’s strategy for young adult ministry and leads the implementation of that strategy. The Coordinator works with the Director of Student Ministry and Young Adults to determine how MBC can best lead young adults to find and follow Jesus together. Then, the Coordinator leads the execution of the strategy through a large team of non-staff leaders. The young adult ministry is called Citywide.
Responsibilities (Essential Functions) :
The Coordinator’s role involves :
- Participating in strategy discussions to develop the best approach for young adult ministry in MBC’s context
- Coordinating Citywide through non-staff leader teams, including a welcome team, logistics team, coaches team, table facilitators team, activities team, and media team
- Planning and executing Citywide events
- Leading the planning and execution of the MBCYA retreat, working with other MBC Locations
- Discipling and counseling young adults
- Facilitating authentic connection between young adults
- Managing Citywide’s finances
- Developing Citywide’s newcomer experience and assimilation process
- Managing Citywide’s communications and inquiry response
- Overseeing the aesthetics and environment of Citywide gatherings and events
- Ideating and executing plans for young adult ministry expansion
- Recruiting, training, and appreciating non-staff leaders
- Coordinating with other MBC ministries and teams, such as the Communications and Worship teams
- Teaching and public speaking may be included in the role, depending on the Coordinator’s gifting
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Ministry and Young Adults

Physical requirements :
Must be able to read, speak, and hear. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. While performing the duties of this job, the Coordinator is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, bend, kneel, and lift. The Coordinator is required to be able to lift and carry items that can weigh 25 pounds or more for short distances. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
