Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Orthopedic Surgical Scheduler to join our team at McLean Tysons Orthopedic Surgery Center. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures, ensuring efficient use of operating room time, and providing exceptional support to our orthopedic surgeons and patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and coordinate orthopedic surgical procedures, ensuring optimal use of operating room time and resources.
- Communicate with patients, surgeons, and medical staff to confirm surgery dates, times, and pre-operative instructions.
- Verify patient information, insurance coverage, and obtain necessary authorizations for surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date surgical schedules, including cancellations and rescheduling.
- Prepare and distribute daily surgery schedules to relevant departments and staff.
- Assist with pre-operative and post-operative patient care coordination, including follow-up appointments and instructions.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements related to surgical scheduling.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Cover the front desk as needed, handling patient check-ins, inquiries, and administrative tasks.
- Process credentialing and onboarding for new surgeons, anesthesiologists, and clinical staff.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical scheduling, preferably in an orthopedic or surgical setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in medical scheduling software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures.
