What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Instructor, Fire Protection Technology position at McLennan Community College?
GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION :
Instruct courses in Fire Protection Technology. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining office hours, participating in professional development, and working across departments to develop student communication, computation and critical thinking skills. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned which could include non-traditional venues, such as evening, weekend, dual credit, and / or online courses, and must be able to travel to clinical facilities and be flexible to teach as needed. This position reports to the Program Director of Fire Protection Technology.
NOTE : This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Significant exertion on a daily basis. Awkward positions and sustained activities require strength. Frequent moderate lifting is required (30-60 lbs.). Minimal Hazard / Exposure : Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
BENEFITS :
Part-Time Retirement. Participation in Medicare Part A, but not Social Security (FICA)
QUALIFICATIONS :
To qualify for the Instructor I level, applicants must meet the followin g minimum requirements :
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection Basic Structural Firefighter certification or greater
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection Instructor I certification
To qualify for the Instructor II level, applicants must meet the followin g minimum requirements :
Physical Requirements :
Must be able to perform any skill in the Texas Commission on Fire Protection basic structural firefighter skill manual
Instructor II level preferred qualifications :
Any additional Texas Commission on Fire Protection advanced certifications
