GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION :

Provide assistance to the participating students in the Upward Bound Program, as appropriate in the areas of English and Spanish, and Math and ScienceThis is a temporary, part-time position, filled on an as-needed basis. Employee may not exceed 19.5 hours per week.

NOTE : This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Restricted-Sustained posture, for prolonged periods; light lifting, some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis. Minimal Hazard / Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.

SELECTION CRITERIA :

Ability to : 1. Create detailed lesson plans; 2. Conduct classroom instruction / activities in accordance with the overall design of Upward Bound objectives and required services; 3. Evaluate student progress; 4. Work with full-time staff in implementing individualized educational work plan for each student; 5. Maintain confidentiality

BENEFITS :

Part-Time Retirement. Participation in Medicare Part A, but not Social Security (FICA).

QUALIFICATIONS :

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

Education : Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field

Experience : One year of teaching experience with at-risk students

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Education : Secondary teaching certification in subject area
