Diesel Truck/Trailer Technician

This position is Monday through Friday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm and every other Saturday 7:00 am - 12:00 pm.

This is an hourly position reporting to the Lafayette Terminal Manager.

Position will pay $20-$26 per hour depending upon experience

Relocation assistance is not available with this position.

Position Summary: Performs maintenance and repairs to dieselt tractors and/or trailers. Performs maintenance and repairs to APU’s. Installs Qual-Com units in tractors.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform all preventive maintenance on tractors/trailers
• Perform all repairs to tractors/trailers
• Diagnose and repair all wiring/electrical problems on tractors/trailers
• Install Qual-Com tracking units in tractors and perform any required maintenance on such units
• Perform maintenance repairs to APU’s
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested

Education, Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• A degree or certification in Diesel Mechanics, or equivelant, is preferred
• One (1) year related experience in tractor/trailer maintenance, preferred
• Must demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure
• Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Willingness to learn and be coached by location management and/or other technicians
• The following skills are required: Computer skills, Communication skills, Organizational skills, Strong Problem-Solving skills

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to operate a variety of equipment to provide hands-on maintenance functions
• Frequent kneeling, bending, climbing as needed to maintenance of vehicles and equipment
• Ability to work with heights and in varying environments, including hot, cold, dusty and in the presence of exhaust fumes, etc.
• Ability to travel between indoor and outdoor settings
• Ability to wear proper safety gear/PPE as needed
• Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs, occassional lifting up to 100 lbs.
