What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at McLiney Lumber and Supply?
A growing retail lumber and building material supply business headquartered in Johnson County, Kansas, with stores located in multiple states, is looking for a buyer to select and purchase lines of products for our retail home improvement stores.
- Responsible for the replenishment of hardware, building materials, and related accessories across multiple retail store locations.
- Strong analytical skills, detail oriented, and excellent organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with vendors, suppliers, and retail store personnel.
- Work within the buying group to set goals and create strategies.
- Identifying and tracking commodity cost trends and ability to protect margin via buying strategies.
- Creating accurate purchase orders within specified parameters and ability to track accordingly.
- Processing item setup and updating costs, retails, and general stocking information.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets.
- Ability to travel as needed.
