Job Title: Yard Jockey & Whse – Forklift Operator

Reports to: Dispatcher

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Date: September 2024

This position is responsible for maintaining delivery schedules to our local customers and off-site warehouses as well as warehouse inventories. In addition, this position is responsible for operating a forklift to load, unload trailers, move, stack, stage raw materials or finished product and count product. The forklift operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and product. Must be able to work with limited supervision, possess a sense of urgency and accountability.

:

• Responsible for the quality and food safety of our products
• Maintain a good safety record when OTR vehicle and using forklift
• Pre-trips the truck and trailer before leaving
• Post-trips the truck and trailer upon return
• Maintain correct paperwork, including the BOL, for every stop
• Deliver correct product to customer with a proof of delivery
• Notate all discrepancies on the BOL
• Perform quality checks on raw materials
• Knowledge of proper weight distribution of product to ensure accurate scaling of trailers
• Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage, report quantity variances immediately.
• Stage and load orders for walk in customers
• Pull and prepare product for shipment
• Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service demands.
• Provide back up for the warehouse lead when needed
• Maintains safe work environment by watching out for foot traffic; follows standards and procedures; complies with legal regulations
• Attention to detail, neat and accurate paperwork
• Ensure forklift is maintained in a safe and efficient operating condition (Daily/weekly Inspections)
• Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
• Continuous improvement
• Able to react to change productively and to perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Able to work overtime as needs throughout the week, as well as Saturdays

:

• High School diploma or GED
• Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement and minimum of 5 years driving experience
• Able to provide an acceptable driving record
• Able to work under pressure and adapt to change
• Able to communicate effectively/ good interpersonal skills
• Able to work in a team environment and accept responsibility
• Complete control of equipment and product at all times
• Minimum 5 plus years current forklift experience in high traffic/fast paced warehouse plus experience loading trailers
• Able to lift up to 65 lbs.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Able to operate electric and manual pallet jacks and stand-up and sit-down forklift experience
• Operations in a manner that promotes safety and complies with OSHA standards
• Experience loading and unloading from push back racks (from floor, 1st level and 2nd level racking)
• Experienced loading and unloading trailers
• Experience with food products packed in glass and / or plastic, breakable if dropped
• Able to adhere to established company productivity, GMP, SOP and quality standards

Hours

5:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, Saturday if needed. Hours may vary depending on business needs

Must be able to stand, sit, lift, bend, crouch, reach and climb consistently for twelve hours
