POSITION SUMMARY: The Nutrition Coordinator supervises all aspects of the McMinn Senior Activity Center nutrition program for senior citizens. This includes cooking, supervising food prep, meal service, and clean-up ensuring all health department requirements are followed as required by licensure. The Nutrition Coordinator also coordinates all activities related to serving meals including planning menus, shopping, ordering supplies, preparing and serving meals as well as maintaining records required by funding sources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
-Oversee menu planning for the days a week that the Center provides lunch that is a well-balanced meal typically consisting of:
-a source of carbohydrates like grains or starches (¼ of meal)
-a source or serving of protein (¼ of meal)
-one or more servings of vegetables and fruit (½ of meal)
-small amount of fat
-Supervise food prep, cooking, mealtimes, and clean-up ensuring all health department requirements are followed as required by licensure.
-Work with volunteers to plan and schedule meals donated to the Senior Activity Center.
-Trains, supervises and coordinates all nutrition program volunteers in food safety protocols and procedures.
-Assure that the kitchen is clean and in good condition, completing daily general cleaning duties.
-Monitor inventory of supplies and coordinate supply purchases with Assistant Director, keeping within a budget.
-Manage maintenance and kitchen staff and/or volunteers in safety protocols and procedures
-Manage food handling and storage standards and ensure that all staff/volunteers are following Health Department standards as required by licensure.
-Collect and count daily nutrition donations to be delivered to the Executive Director or Assistant Director.
- Requires regular and prompt attendance plus the ability to work well with others and work well as a team.
-Performs other duties as assigned including assisting/leading/set up programming as needed.
-Must have a pleasant and helpful demeanor.
QUALIFICATIONS
-High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience working in a commercial kitchen, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic cooking experience. ”Home cooking” knowledge can be sufficient. Knowledge of nutrition is a plus.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $8.25 - $8.50 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week

- No weekends
