Position Overview
To provide sales support for Visitor Services and Membership with excellent customer service and sales techniques.
Essential Job Functions
1. Acts as a Museum representative while offering exemplary customer service to all museum visitors by meeting and/or exceeding visitor expectations, anticipating and responding to visitors' needs, and finding solutions when problems arise.
2. Greets customers and processes sales transactions efficiently and accurately.
3. Provides excellent customer service to all visitors who come into the Museum.
4. Responsible for offering and selling Museum memberships.
5. Maintains knowledge of membership levels, promotions, exhibition charges, and variations of ticket prices to ensure accurate information is presented to visitors.
6. Maintains knowledge of policies regarding payment and exchanges, and proper financial procedures.
7. Opens and closes cash registers; performs tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and reconciling cash drawers at end of day/shift.
8. Diffuses complaints by listening respectfully, offering any solutions you may have available to you, or directing them to the appropriate staff person. Uses excellent independent judgment in how to address complaints.
9. Answers phone calls and returns messages regarding general Museum inquiries. Directs all other inquires to the appropriate staff person.
10. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of current and upcoming events going on and/or being held at the Museum.
11. Receives, holds, and distributes items between staff/docents and public as needed. Calls Museum staff to notify them when appointments arrive.
12. Assists visitors with travel in city (i.e. buses/taxis), restaurant recommendations, and directions.
13. Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
Computer and POS knowledge preferred. Must be willing to learn. Cash handling experience, strong math skills. Must have flexible hours as evening and weekend duty are required.
