    Position Duties / Responsibilities

    The Director of Internal Audit and Ethics Liaison reports to the President of the University and the University of Louisiana System Director of Internal and External Audit.

    The person is responsible for the following job functions :

  • The Director of Internal Audit and Ethics Liaison reports to the President of the University and the University of Louisiana System Director of Internal and External Audit.
  • Administer all phases of the departmental audits to assist management in the effective discharge of their responsibilities.
  • Compile analyses, recommendations, counsel and information concerning the activities and records of the University resulting from reviews conducted and provide such information to management and to the Board on a regular basis.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop a risk based audit plan annually.
  • Perform each audit engagement :
  • determine scope and objectives for each audit engagement
  • develop the audit program
  • examine financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with institutional, state and board policies,
  • evaluate financial and operational procedures for adequate internal controls
  • test the timeliness, reliability and usefulness of institutional records and reports
  • perform cost-efficiency evaluations
  • monitor the development and implementation of methods, systems and procedures, and major revisions to them, including those pertinent to computer applications
  • evaluate and monitor the computer center's system of internal control to ensure adequate security
  • determine the level of compliance with required state and federal laws and regulation
  • perform program evaluations
  • maintain audit working papers to support findings and recommendations
  • Establish departmental goals and monitor resulting outcomes
  • Coordinate with external auditors when necessary.
  • Prepare reports containing data on records audited, procedures performed, conclusions reached, findings and recommendations.
  • May conduct internal administrative investigations and / or assist the McNeese Police Department in white collar criminal investigations.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities required to maintain the office (such as budgeting responsibilities, IA departmental policies and procedures manual upkeep, time keeping requirements and supervision, recruit and hire appropriate staff, performance evaluations, staff compliance, ensure all staff maintain appropriate skill sets, etc.)
  • Serves as the campus liaison for the Code of Governmental Ethics and manages the campus reporting Hotline.
  • Analyze, research, and provide guidance on ethics compliance and complimentary admissions and travel.
  • Review all University Police end of shift summary reports to identify potential risk areas and / or misappropriations to ensure that proper notifications and reporting are performed in accordance with state regulations.
  • Perform Quality Self-Assessment Reviews in accordance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
  • Perform extensive research of laws, executive orders, regulations and legal opinions.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and is responsible for ensuring that the work of the audit department is conducted in accordance with those standards.
  • Required / Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. in Accounting and Finance, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a professional accountant or at least two years of audit related experience
  • Must have excellent computer skills, report writing skills
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment

The prospective faculty member is responsible for the cost of the evaluation. McNeese typically accepts evaluations by World Education Services () or Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.
