Position Duties/Responsibilities
The Travel Accountant reports to the Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible for functions related to travel for all Faculty and Staff. The Travel Accountant will work closely with the Senior Travel Accountant, Faculty, Staff, and vendors.
Required/Preferred Qualifications
McNeese State University, located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, is a public university and a member of the University of Louisiana System. Position Duties/Responsibilities
The Travel Accountant reports to the Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible for functions related to travel for all Faculty and Staff. The Travel Accountant will work closely with the Senior Travel Accountant, Faculty, Staff, and vendors.
- Analyze all travel documentation provided for trips and communicate with faculty, staff, and vendors regarding trip details, invoicing, etc.
- Verification of all travel reimbursements for compliance with PPM 49 Travel Regulations, university policies, athletic, state, and NCAA guidelines.
- Monitor compliance with State LaCarte Card Regulations
- Prepare a monthly spreadsheet of charges and account codes to be uploaded into Banner
- Upload all necessary documents into the Bank of America Works system
- Administer HotelPlanner program for all lodging
- Balance statements for each cardholder monthly
- Ensure proper coding of expenses in the Banner system
- Reconcile travel advance account monthly
- Ensure all travel documents are received timely according to policy
- Complete all required annual training
- Any other duties as assigned by the Chief Accounting Officer and/or Vice-President for Business Affairs
Required/Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Two years of experience and/or training in accounting or related field
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Excellent Communication and Customer Service skills
- Attentive to detail
- Analytical aptitude required to analyze data
- Should be credible, dependable, and work independently as well as with a team
- Bachelor of Science Accounting degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Three or more years of Ellucian Banner experience
