JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary-
The role of a commercial printer cutter operator involves efficiently operating machinery to precisely cut printed projects, handle paper effectively, demonstrating keen attention to detail, thriving in a fast-paced setting, working autonomously, utilizing basic math skills for measurements, and exhibiting confidence in executing job tasks. Training will be provided, though prior experience is a plus. Additionally, there may be opportunities to operate other minor equipment alongside the cutter machine.
As the Cutter Operator, you will be stationed in the cutting area of the print finishing department. Responsibilities will include setting up cutting equipment, programming, and operating paper cutting machinery. This position requires processing cutting orders in alignment with provided instructions and managerial guidance.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, following standardized methods of job finishing in a continuous improvement environment.
- Follow safe work practices.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day & lift/move 55 pounds.
- Ability to arrive on time each day for your shift.
- Must be able to be on your feet for most of the shift/ lift, push or pull on a routine basis.
- Ability to work well with others in a team based setting.
- Ability to read a tape measure/ have good math skills.
- Ability to read gauges and computer monitors on machine.
- Operates paper cutter to cut and trim blank stock and printed material.
- Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
- Accurately measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and final programmed cuts.
- Sets up and performs maintenance on machines.
- Sets automatic cutting programs into machines
- Performs preventative maintenance including blade replacement, lubrication, and waxing.
- Use of pallet jack to move pallets of paper through all areas of production.
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, follows all safety regulations.
- Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the P.M. charts.
- Works overtime as needed.
- Constant quality control at all steps of the cutting process.
- Package finished pieces into cartons, uses proper methods and materials to protect printed pieces.
- Work with crew at machine to ensure productivity & efficiency
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 3 to 5 years of factory-related experience in a Bindery environment preferred.
