Job Description: RN Quality Analyst
Job Summary:
- Responsible for ensuring that healthcare providers and the organization deliver the highest quality care possible by meeting standards of care (including CMS measures, trauma requirements, etc.) and ensure documentation needs are met for optimal reimbursement. Analyze data related to clinical performance, identify areas of opportunities for improvement, and develop strategies to address these issues, implement strategies and evaluate effectiveness of these strategies.
- Work directly with medical professionals and the organization’s leadership team. Strive to improve the quality of patient care through a variety of methods including audits, assessments, evaluations, etc.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Concurrent chart auditing to identify opportunities, completeness and accuracy including but not limited to: documentation requirements for reimbursement, standards of care met, adherence to policies, procedures, order sets
- Identify trends and opportunities to determine areas of needs including but not limited to provider educational needs, program development, EHR/documentation changes, revision or development of order sets, policies and/or standard procedures/guidelines, additional reimbursement opportunities
- Collaborate with leaders, providers and staff to develop and implement multidisciplinary action plans. Collaboration to develop and implement educational plans for identified needs for individual providers as well as needs for all departmental or facility staff
- Review programs and patient care to ensure that medical care is effective, efficient, and in-line with the evidence-based standards of care
- Work with billing department to review current billing processes and identify billing opportunities for additional charges as well as documentation needs for billing and develop and implement necessary actions. Monitor the effectiveness of changes that were implemented
- Participate in quality improvement projects such as developing new methods for measuring quality, data entry, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Review medical records to evaluate the appropriateness of diagnoses, treatment plans, and outcomes
- Create reports summarizing findings and providing recommendations for improvements in care or procedures
- Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans or programs to improve quality and safety of care
- Monitor patient progress and communicating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers/team members
- Enter appropriate ED level charges as well as trauma charges when appropriate. Audit charges to ensure accuracy
- Assist in developing protocols, standards, and guidelines for nursing staff and other healthcare workers
- Develop and implement quality improvement plans, track and report quality indicators, and participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Identify opportunities and prepare case reviews for Emergency Department Medical Director
- Enter fallouts/incidents into the Risk Management software as necessary
- Report data and information to the appropriate leaders and/or committees

Qualifications:
Licenses and Certifications:
- Current registered nursing license in the state of KS
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC
Working Conditions:
Hazardous Working Conditions: OSHA Category 1: Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and other potentially infectious materials.
Environmental Surroundings: Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise. Examples: patient care providers and laboratory technicians.
Physical Working Conditions: Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight (20 to 50 lbs).
