JOB SUMMARY: Provide Part Time assistance to the OR/Surgery nurse manager at Claremore Indian Hospital in all fields regarding practical and administrative knowledge. This charge nurse will not perform any supervisory duties, but will provide guidance to the nurse manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Plans, researches, develops, and implements new or modified techniques, methods, practices, and approaches in nursing care.
- Acts as a consultant in OR/Surgery nursing and will be considered an expert in this field.
- Provides expert and complex nursing and healthcare to OR/surgical patients.
- Will instruct nursing and medical staff in OR/Surgery.
- Provides nursing service for surgical operations, including those involving complex and extensive surgical procedures.
- Confers with surgeons concerning instruments, sutures, prostheses and special equipment, cares for physical and psychological needs of patients.
- Assists in the care and handling of supplies and equipment.
- Assures accurate care and handling of specimens.
- Assumes responsibility for aseptic technique maintenance and adequacy of supplies during surgery.
- Creates work schedules.
- Oversees admissions and discharges, mostly on an outpatient basis.
- Provides for patient comfort, safety, and satisfaction. Maintains patient environment in a safe and orderly manner.
- Functions cooperatively as a team member. Responds as directed by responsible nurse to changing patients'/unit's needs. During a patient or environmental emergency, may serve as a runner or transport patients as directed.
- Communicates in a professional manner and demonstrates respect for patient, families/significant other and other health care members.
- Offers support and feedback to peers and staff. Applies principles of caring and healing in interactions with patients and families and with colleagues.
- Offers consistent and visible support to team members.
- Complies with all hospital rules, regulations, and nursing standards.
- Responsible for honest behavior in all matters. To the best of the employee’s knowledge and understanding, complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations.
- Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information. Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.
- Provide administrative support to nurse manager to include budgeting and procurement
- May be required to work independently on any of the above matters.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Background check required.
