REQUIREMENTS:
- Analyzes report data and assist Behavioral Health Director with identifying potential improvements in the substance abuse programs, policies, and procedures of the service unit.
- Follows established substance abuse protocols in providing counseling services to adults, adolescents and children with substance abuse issues.
- Complete diagnostic assessments for substance abuse that may be required from judge orders or related to legal charges.
- Documents client encounters with the existing charting system.
- Provides recommendations to the Behavioral Health Director and other members of the healthcare team in the treatment of patients with substance abuse issues.
- Analyzes situations and conditions to identify problems, trends and demands for service unit substance abuse services and provide technical assistance for those services.
- Provides professional consultation for cases where a dual diagnosis of mental illness and alcoholism or substance abuse is appropriate or where child abuse or neglect is linked with alcohol or other substance abuse.
- Makes recommendations to providers of care at the service unit ensuring appropriate clinical course of treatment.
- Assist in behavioral/psychiatric situations within the outpatient care setting. This can include assisting other licensed personnel with crisis intervention, assisting with observation and documentation of aggressive or suicidal psychiatric patients by providing one-to-one observation.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 2 years of of clinical experience in alcohol/drug treatment counseling
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science/ Counseling Certified or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Public Trust
