The selected individual must live within the State of Florida , as our expectation would be that the candidate will spend a minimum of 2 days per week traveling to job sites at or near one of our Florida McShea locations. The selected candidate may be able to work from home on the days they might not be traveling.
Travel will be required for this role (50-60% travel) and would include doing jobsite monitoring / visits while working at night .
Job Overview :
As a Safety Manager with McShea Contracting, with oversight from Frontline Road Safety Group's Director of Safety, you will be responsible implementing and overseeing safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily.
Assist the Safety Manager in the development of OSHA workplace policies and procedures.
Ensuring all signage and posting are appropriately updated and displayed at facilities and on vehicles / equipment (high pressure warning stickers, OSAH 300A Logs etc..).
Conduct safety assessments in the field and at facilities to include safety equipment such as fire extinguishers.
Ensure all safety equipment is properly calibrated, up to date and all safety saline’s and first aid items are replenished and within use-by dates.
Conduct field safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks
Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.
Assist in any safety functions deemed necessary by Frontline's Director of Safety or McShea leadership.
Additional Responsibilities :
instruction and promotion of safety standards and safe operation.
Providing solutions and intervention strategies for hygiene, health, and safety hazards.
Investigation of accidents and identify possible causes of the accident.
Review and monitor Samsara footage from all McShea company vehicles and coach / mentor / discipline when appropriate
Research new material and conduct new hire and recurrent safety training.
Post-accident follow-up and corrective action training.
Maintain inventory counts and levels on all safety equipment at all facilities and in all vehicles.
Identify and purchase OSHA, EPA compliance items and safety equipment in all facilities and in all vehicles.
Maintain the meeting schedule and documentation (minutes) of our Safety Committee Meetings.
Maintain the meeting schedule and documentation (minutes) of our Incident Review Team meetings.
Provide collaborative assistance to all departments when needed and with regard to safety.
Qualifications / Experience :
5-7 years’ experience in a safety leadership position, preferably in a Roads / Highways / Construction setting.
Possess an OSHA 10, 30 or 40 strongly preferred.
Ability to travel 50-60%.
Valid and active Florida driver's license with no restrictions
Possess or be willing to obtain a CDL license.
Excellent PowerPoint, Excel skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Basic understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers.
Previous experience with Samsara equipment a major plus.
Experience working with DOT regulations and requirements.
Travel :
Travel is required 50-60% of the time throughout the State of Florida.
