Position Title : Director of Membership Department : Admin

Classification : Exempt

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Position Reports To : VP of Consumer Lending

Positions Supervised : Branch Managers, Teller Manager

POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for achieving and supporting the membership growth and loan goals. Ensures that members are promptly and professionally served. Responsible for overseeing the administration and development of Branch operations. Implements appropriate policies, procedures, and training to ensure efficient and effective operations. Supervises Branch budget and business performance and promotes optimal and cost-effective operations. Assists with the development and implementation of Branch marketing programs. Directs and appraises Branch Managers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

1. Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of effective Branch planning.

a. Assists management with long and short-term Branch planning.

b. Ensures that Credit Union membership growth goals are complemented and supported.

c. Helps develop and implement member service plans, policies, procedures, and goals that further strategic objectives.

d. Meets with Managers systematically to evaluate and redefine goals for effective and efficient operations.

2. Ensures the effective performance of all assigned Branch offices.

a. Ensures that Branch auditing procedures are effectively conducted and that deficiencies are corrected.

b. Ensures that Branch operations are completed in accordance with established Credit Union procedures and applicable laws and regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act.

c. Monitors Branch budgets and business performance. Manages and oversees expenses. Pursues cost-saving measures.

d. Ensures that products and services are delivered in accordance with established standards and procedures and that the integrity and quality of all Credit Union programs are maintained.

3. Effectively oversees assigned personnel, ensuring optimal performance.

a. Provides leadership to personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication. Conducts staff meetings on a regular basis.

b. Ensures that direct and indirect reports are well-trained, effective, and optimally used. Instruct personnel regarding policy, procedure, and program changes.

c. Conducts performance appraisals as required. Provides guidance and support to Managers preparing and conducting performance appraisals. Suggests and implements corrective actions as needed.

d. Ensures that staffing levels are appropriate and that human resources are effectively utilized.

4. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination with area personnel and with management.

a. Assists Managers and area personnel as required. Advises Managers on more complex problems.

b. Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns.

c. Ensures that Branch activities are well coordinated with total Credit Union operations.

d. Completes required reports and related documents promptly and accurately.

e. Attends meetings as required.

5. Assumes responsibility for ensuring that professional business relations are established and maintained with members, the community, and professional contacts.

a. Ensures that the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected.

b. Ensures that requests and questions are promptly and courteously resolved.

c. Ensures that members are informed of Credit Union services and policies.

6. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

a. Demonstrates thorough knowledge and understanding of the “Thank God It’s Monday” philosophy through positive behavior.

b. Stays informed of developments and trends in Credit Union policies and related laws and regulations.

b. Ensures that safety standards are followed.

c. Ensures that equipment and supplies are maintained at appropriate levels.

d. Attends assigned training sessions and stays current on new member service procedures.

MAJOR CHALLENGES

1. Ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and implementation of Credit Union policies and procedures within Branch offices.

2. Ensuring that Branch operations are efficient and cost-effective.

3. Ensuring that Branch Managers and indirect reports are effective and well-trained.

4. Ensuring appropriately high levels of internal control.

5. Ensuring members receive the highest levels of service.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

1. Branch services are efficiently and effectively delivered in accordance with established Credit Union policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations. Adequate internal controls are in place.

2. Appropriate policies, procedures, and training are developed and updated as needed.

3. Branch transactions, expenses, and profitability are in line with Credit Union standards.

4. Good business relations exist with members and their needs are properly anticipated and satisfied.

5. Branch Managers and indirect reports are well-trained and effective, and their activities are well-coordinated. Assistance and support are provided as needed.

6. Established membership growth goals and service standards are met.

7. Required reports and records are accurate and timely.

8. C Level is appropriately informed of Branch activities and of any significant problems. Suggestions for improved efficiency or effectiveness are provided and integrated into planning processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Certification : College degree in business administration or related field preferred.

Required Knowledge : Thorough knowledge of Credit Union services and products.

Understanding of all Branch / Collections operations and functions.

Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements.

Experience Required : Five to ten years of similar or related experience.

Skills / Abilities : Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Solid analytical abilities.

Good organizational and problems solving abilities.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Talking : Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Average Hearing : Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Repetitive Motion : Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and / or fingers.

Average Visual Abilities : Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.

Physical Strength : Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.)

WORKING CONDITIONS

None : No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office).

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

Able to deal with very difficult concepts and complex variables.

Mathematics Ability : Ability to compute discount, interest, profit, and loss; commission markup and selling price; ratio and proportion and percentage.

Able to perform very simple algebra.

Language Ability : Ability to read scientific and technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and legal documents.

Ability to prepare articles, abstracts, editorials, journals, manuals, and critiques.

Ability to prepare and make comprehensive presentations, participate in formal debate, communicate extemporaneously, and communicate professionally before an audience.
