Position Reports To:
VP of Consumer Lending
Positions Supervised: None

POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for the development of new business relationships with prospective members and increasing business with present members by using Credit Union lead sources. Responsible for handling a variety of member service calls in a prompt and courteous manner. Completes and maintains related reports, records, and files. Cross-sells products and services and supports all functions within the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

1. Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional completion of Outbound Sales Representative functions.

  • Assists in the implementation of an outbound member contact program that includes contacting members from online account applications and other sources to maintain and expand relationships with new, existing, and prespective new members.

  • Ability to be persuasive and communicate convincingly over the phone.

c. Prospects for new accounts and seeks opportunitites to increase existing ones. Conducts regular sales calls to

develop member relationships and follow up on leads.

d. Able to work comfortably in a busy office environment.

e. Responds to telephone messages within one business day.

f. Focuses on deepening member penetration ratios.

g. Meets established quotas and sales goals.

h. Maintains records and reports to immediate supervisor on a regular basis.

i. Receives member telephone questions and complaints in a professional manner.

j. Maintains and projects the company’s professional reputation.

k. Performs other duties as may periodically be assigned.

2. Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective working relations, communication, and coordination with co-workers as well as management.

a. Keep supervisor informed of area activities and significant problems.

b. Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly.

  • Attends and participates in meetings as required.

  • Coordinates tracking of outbound sales programs with Marketing Director.

3. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

  • Assists other departments as necessary.

  • Actively and professionally cross sells Credit Union products and services.

  • Performs related clerical duties as needed.

  • Promotes goodwill and conveys a positive image of the credit union.

  • Keeps work area clean, secure, and well maintained.

f. Completes special projects.

g. Provides backup for other sales positions as needed.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Outbound Sales Representative functions are efficiently, effectively, and accurately performed in accordance with

established policies, standards, and security procedures.

2. Existing accounts are maintained or expanded and new ones developed.

3. Accounts are managed in accordance with established company policies and procedures.

4. Good working relationships and coordination exist with co-workers as well as management. Appropriate assistance is

provided to staff as needed. Supervisor is informed of activities.

5. Good business working relations exists with members.

6. Accurate and complete information about the Credit Unions products and servcies is provided to members.

7. Member problems and complaints are promptly and professionally addressed and resolved.

8. Sales and profit goals are met or exceeded.

9. Required reports and records are accurate, complete and timely.

10. The Credit Union’s professional reputation is conveyed and maintained.

11. To maintain a dependable record of attendance and timeliness.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification
: High school graduate or equivalent.

Required Knowledge
: Good knowledge of Credit Union products and services.
Understanding of product positioning and competitive conditions.
Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques and principles.

Experience Required
: Previous sales experience required.

Skills/Abilities
: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
Work involves extensive personal contact with others and /or can be of a personal or sensitive nature.
Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.

: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Average Visual Abilities
: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.

Physical Strength
: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.)

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.

MATHEMATICS ABILITY:
Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two digit numbers; the four basic arithmetic operations with money; and operations with units such as inch, foot, yard; ounce, and pound (or their metric counterparts).

LANGUAGE ABILITY:
Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; read at a slow rate; and define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation.
Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs.
Ability to communicate in complex sentences, using normal word order with present and past tense and good vocabulary.
