McVantage Packaging specializes in manufacturing, repairing, and recycling wooden pallets and crates servicing the Central-Southeastern U.S. from our plants in Tuscumbia, AL and Nashville, TN. Our Tuscumbia operation includes a scragg mill and various production stations for the manufacture and reprocessing of our lumber products and packaging product components. Both the Nashville and Tuscumbia operations are then able to assemble those products into our pallets, crates, and other products.

The Disassembly Saw Operator is responsible for dismantling pallets using a specialized saw. This role requires physical strength and endurance, as well as attention to safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities:

• Pallet Dismantling: Operate a disassembly saw to break down used pallets into reusable wood components.
• Material Handling: Lift and move wooden pallet pieces as needed, including stacking and organizing for reuse or disposal.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures when operating the saw, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), and handling materials.
• Equipment Maintenance: Conduct basic maintenance and cleaning of the saw to ensure proper function.
• Quality Control: Inspect wood pieces for damage and sort materials accordingly.
• Workplace Organization: Maintain a clean and orderly workspace, disposing of scrap material properly.

Saw Operation Proficiency

What You Do: Use a disassembly saw to safely break down pallets into reusable materials.
Why It’s Important: Proper disassembly allows for cost-effective recycling and reuse of wood materials.
Skills Needed: Comfort with power tools, ability to follow safety guidelines, and precision in handling materials.

Physical Strength & Endurance

What You Do: Lift and move wooden components weighing up to 50 pounds continuously and up to 100 pounds periodically.
Why It’s Important: The role requires handling heavy materials throughout the workday.
Skills Needed: Physical stamina, proper lifting techniques, and the ability to work in a physically demanding role.

Work in a Non-Climate-Controlled Environment

What You Do: Perform job duties in a warehouse with fluctuating temperatures.
Why It’s Important: The ability to work in hot or cold conditions is essential for productivity and safety.
Skills Needed: Adaptability, proper hydration, and use of PPE as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: None required.
• Experience: Previous experience with power tools or saw operation is helpful but not required.
• Skills:
• Ability to safely operate a saw and other equipment.
• Physical strength and endurance.
• Attention to safety and detail.
• Certifications: None required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a warehouse or industrial environment.
• Familiarity with pallet recycling or woodworking.

Competencies:

• Safety Awareness: Follows all safety protocols and PPE requirements.
• Reliability: Arrives on time and completes tasks efficiently.
• Attention to Detail: Ensures accurate disassembly and sorting of materials.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent lifting and carrying of heavy materials.
• Standing for extended periods.
• Exposure to sawdust, noise, and fluctuating temperatures.

Work Environment:

• The position is located in an indoor warehouse setting without climate control.
• The work environment is loud due to saw operation and other machinery.
