GENERAL OVERVIEW OF POSITION
The Director of Event Technology will lead the strategy, development, and implementation of event registration platforms and related technologies to support the MCW Events portfolio of large-scale events, conferences, and trade shows. This role is essential for positioning MCW Events’ technology solutions as a key driver of ROI for clients while ensuring seamless and innovative attendee experiences.
This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and sales acumen. The Director will act as the face of our technology capabilities, collaborating closely with the Business Development & Sales team to create compelling sales tools, differentiate MCW Events’ value proposition, and upsell technology services to clients. With a mindset of "building systems for easy growth", this role ensures that technology infrastructure is scalable, efficient, and aligned with both internal and client needs.
Additionally, the Director of Event Technology will lead and oversee the Event Technology department with the MCW Events Organizational Structure.

Salary Range: $175,000 - $200,000

JOB DESCRIPTION
Expectations that this role would be able to accomplish and execute on the following
tasks:
Registration Technology Strategy
- Lead the development and execution of event registration systems for multiple large-scale events.
- Evaluate, implement, and manage event registration technology solutions that enhance attendee experiences and streamline operations.
- Conduct vendor research and due diligence to ensure MCW Events partners with the best event technology providers.
- Oversee the design, configuration, and integration of registration websites, forms, and workflows.
- Ensure seamless integration of registration systems with event apps, CRMs (e.g., Salesforce), and attendee management platforms.
- Align budgets and resources to deliver cost-effective and impactful technology solutions.
Client Relationship Management and Sales Strategy
- Act as a trusted advisor for clients, demonstrating the ROI of MCW Events’ technology solutions.
- Work closely with the Business Development & Sales team to create the MCW Events Technology Capabilities Deck and other sales tools.
- Develop and deliver talk tracks that differentiate MCW’s technology offerings and drive client adoption.
- Collaborate on pricing strategies to position MCW’s solutions competitively in the market.
- Negotiate blind commissions with technology vendors to optimize profitability for MCW Events.
Attendee Data Management
- Oversee the collection, organization, and reporting of attendee data across events.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and maintain high data integrity standards.
- Develop customized reporting dashboards to track attendance, engagement, and other KPIs for internal and client use.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of event technology managers and coordinators.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including planners, sales, sourcing, and housing, to align registration processes with event goals.
- Develop SOPs and training materials for internal teams to ensure consistent execution and knowledge-sharing.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to foster innovation and improve internal processes.
Onsite Event Support
- Oversee onsite registration logistics, including attendee check-in processes, badge printing, and real-time troubleshooting.
- Ensure smooth access for attendees across both physical and virtual event environments.
Vendor and Technology Management
- Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with event technology vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable pricing and services.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging event registration technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems.
- Represent MCW Events at industry events and conferences to network and build relationships with potential technology partners.
Quality Control and Troubleshooting
- Ensure all aspects of the registration process meet client expectations and deliver a seamless attendee experience.
- Troubleshoot technical or operational issues with registration systems, both pre-event and onsite.
- Conduct post-event reviews to analyze data and refine processes for future events.
Foundational Tools & Internal Infrastructure
- Monitor and maintain foundational tools for MCW Events’ internal infrastructure, ensuring the team leverages cutting-edge technology to maximize efficiency.
Technical Understanding
- Possess a thorough understanding of MCW Events technical capabilities.
- Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application on client engagements.
- Maintain technical excellence in providing recommendation, selection and managing technical vendors.
- Understand overall presentation and production needs to meet the event technical goals & objectives.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in event management, IT, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7 years of experience in event registration and technology, including 3 years in a leadership role.
- Expertise in registration platforms like Cvent, RainFocus, Bizzabo, or equivalent enterprise-level systems.
- Strong knowledge of data management, reporting, and integration with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, Marketo, Auth0).
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
- Strong project management abilities, with experience managing multiple large-scale events simultaneously.
- Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
- Analytical mindset, with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification in event management or related technologies.
- Experience with API integrations and custom registration system configurations.
- Familiarity with event engagement tools, apps, and digital badges.
- Knowledge of global registration and ticketing systems for international events.
