What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Birthday Party Assistant position at McWane Science Center?
Come join our team at McWane Science Center! The 15 hour per week Birthday Party Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all guests while hosting birthday parties and supporting the operations of the birthday party program. The hours for this position will primarily be scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays.
Accountabilities and Major Duties
1. Prepare for upcoming parties by organization supplies, counting inventory and calling parents.
2. Assist with ordering supplies and catering.
3. Host birthday parties including the set-up and breakdown of party rooms.
4. Facilitate on-site client contact and coordination prior to and during parties.
5. Present birthday party programs.
6. Provide and maintain excellent customer service to birthday guests as well as all visitors.
Minimum Job Qualifications
1. Working weekends is required.
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Flexible working hours and some evening and holiday work required.
4. Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to work proactively and effectively to meet guests’ needs.
5. Experience and enthusiasm for working with children and adults of all ages.
6. Pleasant, outgoing personality.
7. Confident public speaker.
8. Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with distractions.
9. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
10. Organized and efficient work habits.
11. Proficient computer skills.
12. Team player.
13. Ability to handle small animals, including reptiles, in program presentations required.
14. Possess non-expired national or county issued food safety certification or obtain no later than 30 days of hire date.
Minimum Physical Job Qualifications
1. Ability to stand for up to eight hours at a time.
2. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to fifty pounds.
3. Ability to stoop or crouch by bending at the waist or bending legs.
4. Grasp objects utilizing the fingers.
5. Ability to walk for extended periods of time.
6. Exposure to constant or intermittent high noise levels.
7. Hearing and Visual acuity.
