Electrical / Controls Engineering Intern

Company Description

The electrical engineering / controls intern will be assisting with the development of the future direction of the controls and PLC creation for the location. This includes development and mapping of electrical cabinets, creating and updating the ladder logic used in the PLCs, defining the software levels for the logic and communication interface, and managing and troubleshooting the current machines through PLC interface. Includes both Allen Bradley and Seimens PLCs and associated software.

Job Description

• Perform initial and ongoing design reviews.
• Deliver documentation offering a critical analysis and suggestions for correcting errors.
• Identify process deficiencies and develop solutions to improve those deficiencies.
• Submit a scope of work for each project that includes budgetary numbers and the goal of each project.
• Develop CAD project drawing and review drawings from other team members for accuracy.
• Collaborate with other Engineers and plant leadership to develop an accurate accounting of all engineering hours required for various types of internal projects.
• Understand project scope / background / objectives, use data driven approach to solve problems, and practice methodologies including Six Sigma, DMAIC, PDCA.
• Collect data on throughput and / or waste reduction.
• Complete a report, with a presentation and recommendations to management on process throughput improvements or ideas to improve the company's waste reduction on main production lines.
