At McWhinney, we attract and retain the best and brightest in the industry and are constantly building our team to achieve our goals.Position Summary : McWhinney’s Legal Department is responsible for the management and negotiation of legal and risk issues across the company’s diverse portfolio of real estate assets including mixed use, commercial, industrial, hospitality, multifamily, and master planned community properties. The Corporate Counsel has legal oversight for McWhinney’s corporate entities, corporate contracts and other corporate enterprise matters along with responsibility for McWhinney’s contracts platform supporting all business units. The Corporate Counsel will also provide legal support for McWhinney’s equity platform. The Corporate Counsel will work closely with the Company’s legal and executive teams, and will have the opportunity to work with all of Company’s business line leaders.Key Responsibilities : Provides accurate, relevant and timely legal advice to constituents across multiple business linesPrepares, reviews and negotiates company contracts, requests for proposals and other legal documentsOversees the Company’s external contracts platform for all construction, architecture, operations, and other consultant / vendor contractsAssists with corporate finance mattersFacilitates internal and external equity transfers and amendments to corporate organization documentsReviews, prepares, provides quality and oversight with respect to company investments and investor communication materialsIn concert with other staff, maintains responsibility for corporate entity formation, entity maintenance and annual compliance issues, including Corporate Transparency ActSupports operation of the Company’s employee equity platform and profit-sharing programsSupports the Company’s brokerage operationsManages and mitigates risk by establishing and implementing corporate policies on industry-specific issuesConducts legal research and stays up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that may impact the CompanyDesigns and delivers relevant legal training to the business unitsIs a strong representative of McWhinney’s brand and principles. Models highest levels of professionalism, ethics, practical problem solving, communication and collaborationManages other projects and matters, as assigned and based on interestQualifications 4-6 years of relevant experience as a corporate and / or contracts attorney at a national or large regional law firm or within a corporate legal departmentJD from a highly regarded ABA accredited law schoolMember in good standing of at least one state bar, with ability to obtain Colorado single client licenseUnquestionable integrity, with experience managing organizational conflicts of interest and ethical issuesSelf-starter with the ability to succeed and multitask in fast-paced environment with competing deadlinesVery strong communication, leadership and presentation skillsHighly responsive with ability to develop strong working relationshipsStrong technology skills along with ability to quickly learn new technology platformsReal estate or finance experience preferredBenefits : McWhinney offers a competitive benefits package for full-time Associates including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k), and employee assistance plan.
