The mission of The University of Texas M. D. The ideal candidate will have experience in basic data analysis, including proficiency in statistical methods and programming languages such as Python. The candidate should be comfortable working with data management systems and have the ability to organize, clean, and analyze data to extract meaningful insights. Strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate findings effectively are essential for success in this role.

The primary purpose of the Research Assistant I position is to assist in coordinating informatics and statistics associated research projects. For example, the research assistant will be dedicated to conducting research focused on developing informatics standards and exploring clinical outcomes (i.e., long-term toxicities) among head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. This position entails active collaboration with Principal Investigators, postdoctoral researchers, students, and other research assistants. Additionally, the role encompasses managing and updating large-scale databases for informatics research, assist with drafting protocols or grant progress reports, and contributing to the preparation of scientific publications.

KEY FUNCTIONS/JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES


• Efficiently extracts clinical and imaging data from institutional data sources.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of clinical and imaging data for project-specific patient cohorts.
• Aggregates data for meta-analytic purposes
• Utilizes statistical software for biomedical research
• Support in the processes of image registration and segmentation of organs at risk or regions of interest
• Collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator, co-investigators, and relevant departments to ensure all clinical research activities are executed in alignment with established policies and procedures.
• Aid the Principal Investigator in managing research studies, scribe meeting minutes, addressing protocol requirements, and facilitating the execution of the research plan.
• Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of all collected data through rigorous quality assurance practices in data acquisition and management.
• Organize and support monitoring and auditing visits, acting as a liaison to streamline these processes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education
Required: Bachelor's degree, major course work in one of the basic sciences.
