  • Accurately and efficiently prepare all types of sterile products including SVP, LVP, chemotherapy, biotherapy and investigational agents
  • Accurately and efficiently prepare high-risk sterile products
  • Accurately and efficiently prepare extemporaneous compounds
  • Accurately and efficiently repackaging bulk medications
  • Demonstrates proficiency in two or more specialized areas of expertise meeting accuracy and productivity standards

    Education

    Required : High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Preferred : Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program or 2 years of college credit.

    License / Certification

    Required : Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

    Preferred : Current Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Current Intravenous Medication Certification (IV-Sterile Products) approved by the Accreditation Counsel for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

    Experience

    Required : Two years pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center, or retail pharmacy.

    Preferred : Experience in hazardous sterile compounding, high risk sterile compounding, nonsterile compounding, inventory management, and Pharmacy employee training. Experience in OR, critical care, pediatrics, ordering / receiving medications, and controlled substances.

    Working Conditions

    Working in Patient Care Unit (e.g. Nursing unit; outpatient clinic)
