Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Job Title: Child Life Specialist Employment Type: Full Time Shift: Day Posting Job Description: With an understanding of growth and development and the psychosocial needs of hospitalized children, the Child Life Specialist provides programming for pediatric patients to lessen apprehension, promote positive coping and adjustment, and encourage development in the hospitalized infant, child, or adolescent. Responsibilities: Providing emotional support and care for hospitalized pediatric patients and their families Designing and implementing therapeutic activities to reduce stress and encourage positive coping Offering developmental support based on each child's individual needs Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to promote a child-friendly hospital environment What you will need: Child Life Certification or eligibility for certification Professional level of knowledge of growth and development and child life acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree program in child development, child life, or related discipline Professional knowledge of the effects of illness and hospitalization, acquired through completion of a comprehensive child life internship At least 1 year of paid experience in a Child Life position Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language Working Conditions: May be required to lift a minimum of 15-35 lbs. Pay rate: $29.13 - $40.79 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
