Employment Type: Part time Shift: Day Shift Description: Seeking exceptional nurse with experience in Med Surg with competent symptom management and computer literacy skills to work in our brand-new Radiation Treatment Center in Wheaton Maryland. Radiation/Oncology experience is highly preferred. Work 4 days a week (only Monday - Friday) 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (no holidays, no weekends) Work 4 days a week (only Monday - Friday) 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (no holidays, no weekends) General Summary: Provides patient care and educational counseling for patients and their families undergoing radiation therapy treatment. Applies the nursing process to plan and manage the care of radiation patients. Collaborates with radiation oncologists, medical professionals and other staff to ensure the quality of care provided. Effectively communicates fundamental patient /family information and variances from patient goals to the health care team. Involves appropriate members of the multidisciplinary health care team in providing treatment and continuing care of the patient as needed. Supports the mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital. Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable): Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse BLS certified by the American Heart Association Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) preferred or successfully obtained within 2 years of employment. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of an Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. At least 3 years of nursing experience with 2 years of recent experience in the care of oncology patients. Demonstration of acceptable performance in administering medications according to Holy Cross Hospital’s standards within the probationary period. Basic computer skills to include data entry and retrieval. Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English language. Working Conditions: Physical Requirements: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift patients up to 35 pounds. Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Environmental Conditions: The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Reporting Relationship: Directly supervised by and accountable to the Director of Radiation Oncology. Works under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist.
