Job Summary
Working Hours 8:30 AM - 05:00 PM from Monday to Friday
As the Warehouse Supervisor in our milk production facility, you'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations. This includes managing inventory levels, coordinating the receipt and storage of raw materials, and organizing the efficient distribution of finished dairy products. You'll lead a team of warehouse staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. Additionally, you'll be tasked with maintaining a safe and organized work environment, implementing best practices for inventory management, and collaborating with other departments to meet production and shipping deadlines. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth flow of goods through our facility, ultimately contributing to the success of our dairy operation.
Role Requirements
BS degree in a related field or equivalent job experience required.
1-5 years in warehouse /production environment with industry experience.
Proven understanding of warehousing/shipping and receiving as well as production/operations/manufacturing requirements.
Ability to supervise and develop employees, a strong leadership background, and the ability to direct a diverse unionized workforce.
Working experience with equipment/maintenance including but not limited to forklifts and yard spotting trucks.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Proven time management skills.
Working knowledge of MS applications including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint, and ability to grasp additional business-related applications.
All other duties as assigned.
Main Responsibilities
Plan, lead, direct shipping and receiving activities on the shift and give appropriate feedback to employees.
Build teams and assign accountability.
Develop a work environment within warehouse/manufacturing that promotes safety, trust, teamwork, quality, and efficiency.
Ensure production of a quality product in compliance with Safeway, Federal and State guidelines.
Ensure regulatory compliance as appropriate (OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, HACCP, SOX, Etc.)
Responsible for all processes on the shift. Oversee activities including ordering, processing, packaging, sanitation, shipping, and receiving of all plant products and services.
May schedule production, schedule crews, order materials, and/or order supplies.
Plan, delegate, and monitor progress on work assignments and special projects.
Manage the timely fulfillment of customer orders, coordinating with production, inventory and transportation.
Manage inventory levels and implement cycle counting procedures in accordance with Safeway corporate and SOX requirements.
Oversee the preparation and verification of shipping and receiving documents, including invoices, BOLs and shipping labels.
Manage to assigned financial budget targets - typically labor/productivity mgt, waste mgt and efficiency.
Utilize new technology and Lean manufacturing principles and processes available to maximize efficiency. Identify cost-cutting measures.
Enforce and promote safety protocols within the shipping department.
Utilize shipping and tracking systems to streamline operations.
Identify opportunities for process improvement in the shipping and receiving operations
